OGG Vorbis is a free and open source audio format which has several advantages over MP3 format:
- Thanks to OGG Vorbis, you can get a better audio quality for the same bitrate as MP3 format;
- OGG Vorbis is free;
- OGG Vorbis is open source;
- OGG Vorbis does not contain any technology to restrict access like DRM (Digital Rights Management);
- OGG Vorbis is not restricted by patents, so you are sure you'll always be allowed to listen to your favourite songs without paying any fee if they are encoded in OGG (which is not the case for MP3 or any other proprietary format).
For all these reasons, I strongly recommend you to use OGG file format. That's also why I won't provide direct MP3 downloads on my official Web site.
